THE SECRET TO MAKING NATURAL DEODORANT WORK

Natural deodorant: are we into it or not? So, first things first, I made the transition to natural deodorant over 3 years ago. It actually happened when I created Sweat in SD. I was introduced to a few brands and figured I’d give it a go. My transition was honestly easy. I always heard about the 2 week transition period but, I personally didn’t experience it.

Shall we get into the secret sauce? Although my initial transition to natural deodorant was easy, my struggle came later on after about a year and a half using it. I straight up had BO, like bad BO. I tried a couple of other deodorants after noticing the odor but nothing was working.

THE SECRET TO MAKING NATURAL DEODORANT WORK

That’s when I started researching and put two and two together. If we exfoliate our face, shouldn’t we be exfoliating our underarms? Shaving your underarms does exfoliate them but for me at least, I needed something stronger when it came to using natural deodorant.

I started using this glycolic acid on my armpits about 2-3 times a week depending on the situation and it changed my entire BO situation. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). Glycolic acid works by loosening any dull or dead skin cells on the top layer of your skin. AKA, in this case, it will remove the deodorant excess you have from past wears. Removing old deodorant, especially natural deodorant, is not so easy. It also stimulates new cell generation, which will improve the skin tone and texture.

Using a chemical exfoliant to remove the old deodorant has been a complete game-changer for me and has made natural deodorant work for me with no issues!

I’m going to link a few options & sizes below. I’ve only tried this one which is a 5% glycolic acid. Keep in mind some may have a higher percentage so you may want to start low at first.

Have you tried this? Let me know in the comments below or on Instagram!
